Inspired by a conversation with Nick Thompson, the CEO of The Atlantic, I muse on how running could move from a capitalist mindset to sustainability - the philosophical opposite - but probably won't.
To your two questions in the paragraph after the first subhead--yes! TBH I had a hard time relating to this post, although I found it interesting, because so much of my daily life is spent outdoors caring for land and animals, in addition to running, and I have always had a flexible career (except for a few years with an office job and commute). For that I’m grateful. I’ve been running consistently for 30 years now, age 24 to 54, and adapting goals to aging and life circumstances is essential for longevity as a runner.
I hope it didn’t sound like I was bragging….that wasn’t my intent! I hope people with crazy busy jobs can use running to unplug and gain some balance in their lives. Running is about mental health & wellness as much or more than about PRs and competition.
Haha not at all. My life isn't dissimilar 😁 If more people were conscious of their work-life balance (and improving it), I think the world would be a much more comfortable place for all.
To Run Or Not To
Is Not The Question To Ask
So Shut Up And Run
This might become my 6am mantra
Running sucks so bad
But my brain needs to relax
So I trudge along
Love it!
Great post and I love the haiku! Once a week is a great idea. GO!GO!GO!

It's pretty simple. Your life is just the other way round! You just explained it. Should be perfectly relatable haha
