surprised Rawdawg has as much clout as it does off the back of a bodybuilding influencer — something makes me think the zoomers who join in just go for the free content/photos of them running shirtless and buy the merch cause it’s avant garde lol. Good for them though!

zoomers is not my word for them either lol — Chris Williamson of Modern Wisdom and his roommate Zack Telander joined one day at called it “Zoomer Run Club”

I'm sure as hell going to try and run with Rawdawg next time I'm in Austin. Looks fun, but I'm gonna keep my shirt on haha.

I heard that they’re getting shut down at times by Austin police because they have TOO MANY people. Informal parades are causing havoc 🤯

I'm not sure they even run any more. City of Austin technically banned then haha

17 years of running and I'll be honest.....I'm not sure when the last wave of running started or ended and how this new one is gathering strength.

I recall the idea of chasing the IM medal and how that feels like it has died or maybe it is because I am no longer racing IM.....

Let's just have fun and run even if it sucks at times!

The last wave never ended, which is why this one feels like a TSUNAMIIIIIIII

One of the things about this never ending wave that is cool is the people that are getting into running and not just for medals or BQs. Just to run.

It frustrates the hell out of me that the mainstream press feels like it has to - HAS TO - have a take on everything, usually via pieces written by old hacks who mainly use Twitter for their research.

And I love that you cut through to the pithy centre of all of this so eloquently. Thank you! Simon

I vibe with your facetious look at the gatekeeping in running. I laugh when people get into to something so heavily that they forget they were not the first person to do it, or as you also allude to, first to have heard a band. Things we like should BE SHARED! You're not the only runner, the only one with a tattoo or the only one who likes "...their older stuff better" so just share in the love and embrace and cultivate a community. If unsavory people come through with their sales pitches and brand whoring, ignore 'em. Running is for everyone.... that wants to.

I feel like modern gatekeepers in running actually like the newer stuff better, which is kinda interesting. I won't wear the Bumble socks.
