I love the intersection of fashion and running and I hope all those new running stores will be wildly successful.

Also, I hate neon and all that soulless performance attire.

Agree! For me, it's the one of the most fascinating parts of this running boom. So much creativity and opportunity.

And I'm about to repurpose some neon gear from my early days haha

Neon must die.

I had a thought today, while watching a new doc about skateboard art

As much as I embrace #MakeRunningWeirdAgain and #MakeRunnersWeirdAgain (and having been a member of BOTH communities since the late 70s/early 80s), no matter how weird they get, runners will NEVER be as cool as skateboarders

I can't imagine what the running equivalent of draining a neighbor's pool to skate it would be

That being said, I've often run down a street in a sketchy neighborhood 'where does *this* go?'

As a non-cool runner, I 100% agree. We rebel by wearing a non-wicking vintage tee? Coooool

It's been some time since I've been involved in a run club as I've moved a number of times in the last three years but when I founded a club it was a great way to connect with others, have a few laughs and stay motivated during those times when running sucks!

One of the reasons I started my run club was to keep me accountable for those Tuesday mornings in the middle of winter. People are relying on me! I have to be there!

100% understand that. As I have decided to get away from 70.3 training and into 100 mile training there will be more connections to run clubs in this area and that will help build community and accountability.

I look like a yard sale at the best of times. It won't be me setting those trends...

It might be more so the popular outdoor recreation brands in general that inform the next fashion wave. I've spotted rappers Ye(Kanye West) and Jim Jones wearing Arc'Teryx. If they're wearing it, it's already happening as far as I'm concerned.

Kinda, but then you had Liam Gallagher wearing Berghaus 20 years ago. I think outdoor brands have always had more crossover by virtue of stopping off in cafes etc along a hike. Running is a little more specific and nuanced, perhaps.
